PCB election commissioner, retired justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, has set September 13 as the date for the election of the next PCB chairman. With Ehsan Mani set to leave the post after three years at the helm, PCB patron and Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan has nominated former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja and Asad Ali Khan to the PCB’s board of governors for a three-year term.The board of governors, which also includes PCB CEO Wasim Khan and four independent members, will vote for a candidate of their choosing on September 13. Technically, any member of the BoG could be elected for the chairmanship, though historical protocol would dictate members vote for one of the two men nominated by the PCB patron.The ascension of Ramiz to PCB chairman is all but guaranteed, with Imran Khan having met him earlier this week and understood to have given the appointment his seal of approval. He had initially reached out to Ramiz for names of potential candidates, in line with his apparent preference for an ex-player to be at the helm. Everton’s academy is arguably one of the most underrated in Premier League history. The Toffees have produced some exceptional players, although none are better than Wayne Rooney, among the greatest players in Premier League history and a member of the competition’s ‘Hall of Fame’.
Over two spells at Goodison Park, Rooney scored 28 goals and recorded eight assists, sandwiched between years of success at Manchester United where he is their all-time top goalscorer.
Aside from Rooney, the Everton academy has produced the likes of club legend Leon Osman and Ross Barkley, now playing for Aston Villa. However, arguably one of their best academy products in recent seasons, Anthony Gordon, has an indifferent relationship with Toffees fans.
Gordon’s Everton career
Once the man whom Everton fans were hoping to take them back amongst the big boys of the Premier League, Gordon’s career at Goodison Park ended in a toxic mess, the culmination of which was a penalty miss for new club Newcastle United in their recent Premier League clash.
His record for the Toffees does not necessarily reflect just how deadly of a player the winger is. He played 78 times for the club, making his debut in 2017/18 and becoming an established player in 2019/20. In that time, the Liverpool-born attacker scored seven goals and grabbed eight assists.
Former Everton winger Anthony Gordon
In the end, the winger wanted a change of scenery. After a move to Chelsea broke down in the summer of 2022, he got a big move to St James’ Park for £40m the following January, in 2023, after handing in a transfer request. It was a messy exit and did not go down well with Everton fans, hence their apparent delight in his spot-kick miss.
The 23-year-old has gone on to become a key player for the Magpies. He has scored 15 goals and has 11 assists to his name in 73 games, including 21 goal involvements in the Premier League last term. He has had low points, like the penalty miss last weekend, and high points, including playing in the Champions League.
Now, coming through the academy at Finch Farm might be an even more exciting player for the Toffees, who fans will hope can become even better than Gordon.

Everton’s next great academy graduate
The player in question here is 17-year-old midfielder Harrison Armstrong. The youngster has impressed for the Toffees academy over the past few seasons and has been rewarded with first-team opportunities by manager Sean Dyche. Like Gordon, and so many of those before him, Armstrong is Merseyside born and bred.
So far, the young central midfielder has represented the Toffees in three games, coming off the bench twice, against Tottenham in the Premier League and Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup, and starting against Southampton in the same competition. He also made appearances during pre-season.
It is fair to say he impressed in those games, working hard in the centre of the park against the Saints from the start. He was busy, getting 24 touches of the ball and completing 80% of his passes that day, as per Sofascore.

Those impressive performances from the youngster at both academy and first-team level have been recognised by the England set-up. He was named in Liam Bramley’s under-18s squad ahead of the international break for a small tournament in Marbella.
Everton’s former head of recruitment Martin Waldron was full of praise for the 17-year-old midfielder. He explained that Armstrong is “a born winner” and that he has “bags of ability, desire and passion”. That is something that will be music to Everton fans’ ears.
Armstrong certainly seems like a player Toffees fans should be excited about. He is a talented midfielder who is receiving recognition at first team level and for England youth sides, with a clear desire to improve and become the best.
He could well be the next elite talent out of Everton’s underrated academy.

A equipe paulista contou com uma partida exemplar do zagueiro Lucas Souza, mais conhecido como Minhoca. O atleta fez um dos gols do jogo e defensivamente foi seguro ao longo dos 90 minutos.

Minhoca, como é carinhosamente apelidado pelos seus companheiros, se destaca pela bola aérea e chega como uma das peças principais do grupo para a Copinha. O zagueiro foi coroado com o prêmio de melhor jogador da partida na estreia da equipe. Lucas finalizou projetando os próximos jogos.

Manchester United have made a stuttering start to the 2024/25 campaign, piling yet more pressure onto the shoulders of manager Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils have won just three of their opening eight matches so far this campaign, currently occupying 12th place in the Premier League.
They’ve also been on the wrong end of multiple embarrassing results, losing 3-0 to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford – with the supporters undoubtedly unhappy following the start to the new campaign.
The new-look hierarchy splashed out around £200m on five new signings over the summer to try and change the fortunes of the club in recent times, but up to now, it appears as though Noussair Mazraoui has been the only addition to make an immediate first-team impact.
As for the other new signings, there’s still time for them to settle into life in Manchester and demonstrate that they can be worth the huge transfer fees splashed out for their services.
Many will be hoping that they can provide better value for money than the majority of transfers from last season, which saw the club spend a fortune on talents who unfortunately haven’t made an impact under the Dutchman.

After finishing third in the 2022/23 campaign, there was a real expectation for Ten Hag to build on the impressive finish in his first season at the helm, with the board backing the 54-year-old in the market to give him the best chance of taking the side to the next level.
As a result, some big decisions were made, including allowing goalkeeper David de Gea to depart Old Trafford on a free transfer, whilst pursuing a move to land Senegalese stopper, Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
Ten Hag’s side subsequently splashed £47.2m including add-ons for the 28-year-old, nailing down the number one spot over the last couple of seasons – already impressing this term, keeping four clean sheets in the Premier League.
The club also made a move to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea during the same window, costing the Red Devils a whopping £60m – in a deal that has been disastrous after his failure to make an impact under the former Ajax boss.

Injuries have plagued his time in Manchester, restricting him to just 25 appearances in all competitions – currently costing them around £2.4m per appearance since his big-money transfer.
Sacrifices also had to be made to allow for the added investment into the first-team squad, with multiple brutal calls having to be made with youth talent who are only on the fringes of Ten Hag’s side.
Whilst he made 16 appearances in the 2022/23 campaign, winger Anthony Elanga only started five times in the Premier League – featuring for a total of just 422 minutes during the Dutchman’s first season in charge.
The Swedish international made it clear he wanted an increase in game time, subsequently leaving Old Trafford to join Nottingham Forest in a £15m transfer, allowing him to blossom in the process.
Elanga has since registered five goals and ten assists since departing, setting up Morgan Gibbs-White’s winner for the Reds against United back in December last year.
The 22-year-old has since been touted with a huge £50m transfer to fellow Premier League side Newcastle United in recent months – a signal of how impressive he’s been since his move away from his boyhood club, demonstrating that Ten Hag may have offloaded the talent too prematurely.
However, there’s another academy star who was sold during the same window, with his game time and value massively increasing as a result of his fresh start.
The player who United sold too cheaply in 2023
A major transformation of the club’s first-team squad was needed if the Red Devils were to progress to the next level under Ten Hag’s leadership.
Various former senior options were axed, including Eric Bailly and Alex Telles to allow for the aforementioned talents to arrive in Manchester – but they weren’t the only players who had to make way.
Centre-back Teden Mengi arrived in Carrington as a seven-year-old, having the dream of one day being a professional footballer for his boyhood side.
He spent 14 years at Old Trafford, often as part of the academy setup, but did manage to break into the first team and fulfil his dream of being a senior squad member.
Mengi would only feature twice, however, before departing on a permanent basis last summer, joining newly promoted Luton Town for a fee in the region of just €2m (£1.7m) – a bargain given his recent form.
The 22-year-old made 30 appearances under Rob Edwards in the Premier League last season, leading to large interest in his services, which also saw him feature for the England U21 side.
Despite suffering relegation back to the Championship at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, he’s continued his excellent personal form – scoring in the 1-0 victory over Millwall.
Teden Mengi’s market value in 2024
The centre-back has certainly showcased that he’s a phenomenal centre-back and has the capability of being effective in England’s top flight despite his departure from Old Trafford.
His subsequent form has seen a huge increase in his market value, with Mengi now valued at around £9m as per Transfermarkt.
The increase has seen a 440% jump from the fee the club sold him for just over 12 months ago, further evidence that the club sold him far too cheaply.
Mengi, who’s previously been dubbed “dominant” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, is an example that sometimes you need to move on to reach your potential – leaving former employers to rue their decision.

Ten Hag’s current options of Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof aren’t exactly blessed with pace, but Mengi’s attributes could’ve provided that option at the back given their recent problems.
However, it wasn’t meant to be for the youngster, but it’s safe to say he made the right call to leave the club given his rapid rise at Kenilworth Road.

Aos 14′, Gabriel cobrou falta na área, o zagueiro Douglas cabeceou com estilo, mas o goleiro Flávio fez ótima defesa. Logo depois, o meia voltou a aparecer, mas desta vez, em finalização que passou perto.
LADO ERRADO… Aos 30′, de tanto martelar, o Azulino conseguiu abrir o marcador. Cedric fez cruzamento por baixo, Paulo tentou cortar, mas fez gol contra, favorecendo o CSA.
COMEÇO MORNO! A segunda etapa começou morna, com as equipes se estudando e truncando o duelo no meio-campo, não criando grandes oportunidades. O primeiro ataque surgiu com Felipe Augusto, em chute forte que Flávio defendeu.
Aos 27′, Luciano cobrou falta direto e teve uma boa oportunidade para o Aliança. Em contragolpe puxado por Bruno Paulista, o camisa 30 tocou para Lucas Barcelos, que na cara do gol, se enrolou e não conseguiu finalizar.

أعلن الاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة القدم “كاف” عن موعد مباراتي الأهلي والهلال السوداني في ربع نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا، حيث يلتقي الفريقان في مواجهة قوية ضمن منافسات هذا الدور.
وأسفرت قرعة البطولة عن مواجهة الأهلي، حامل اللقب، لنظيره الهلال السوداني، على أن تُقام مباراة الذهاب في القاهرة، بينما يحتضن ملعب شيخا ولد بيديا في موريتانيا مواجهة الإياب بعد أسبوع.
وسيكون الفائز من هذه المواجهة على موعد مع الفائز من لقاء ماميلودي صن داونز الجنوب إفريقي والترجي التونسي في نصف النهائي.

مباراة الذهاب: الثلاثاء 1 أبريل، على استاد القاهرة الدولي، في تمام الساعة التاسعة مساءً بتوقيت مصر، العاشرة بتوقيت السعودية.

ذكرت صحيفة “كورة سودانية” أن “كاف” قرر تعديل طاقم تحكيم مباراة الذهاب بين الأهلي والهلال، حيث تم تعيين الحكم التشادي محمد الحاج علي لإدارة اللقاء بدلاً من الحكم الموريتاني دحان بيدا.
كما تم إسناد مهمة المساعد الأول إلى الكاميروني ألفيس نجوجو، والمساعد الثاني إلى سونو فاتسون، فيما يظل الموريتاني عبدالعزيز بوه حكمًا رابعًا.
