It’s been an eventful campaign for Arsenal this season, and it’s still only October.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already faced the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and following last night’s victory in the League Cup, there is a good chance they could play one of them again should they beat Crystal Palace in the quarter-final.

What makes this start all the more extraordinary is that, thanks to a slew of injuries and suspensions, the Gunners have had to face their biggest rivals without a number of their star players, and yet they currently sit just five points off top spot in the league.

However, while some star players have been absent, others haven’t, including striker Kai Havertz, who has carried on his impressive form from last season into this one and looks more and more at home with every passing game. Yet, based on recent reports, the club could sign his replacement next year.

According to a recent report from Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal remain very interested in Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Alongside the Gunners, Plettenberg has revealed that Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are also keen on the Swedish international.

While this extra competition is far from ideal, the good news is that, according to the reporter, Sporting will allow the 25-year-old to leave next year, and that his exit, for a fee of between €60m to €70m – £50m to £59m – is now “planned.”

It could be a challenging transfer to get over the line due to the outside interest, but given Gyokeres’ sensational form and reasonable fee, it’s one worth pursuing, even if it would be bad news for Havertz.

How Gyokeres compares to Havertz

So, if Arsenal were to secure the services of Gyokeres next summer, it’s unlikely he’d come to North London to just sit happily on the bench, and with Jesus already firmly second choice, that means the Swede’s most significant competitor for first team football would be Havertz.

So, how do they stack up against one another?

From a pure output perspective, arguably the most important metric of all for a number nine, the Sporting star comes out miles ahead.

For example, in his 50 appearances for the Portuguese giants last season, the “unplayable” poacher, as dubbed by former teammate Maxime Biamou, racked up an outrageously impressive haul of 43 goals and 15 assists, and this season, he’s already scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 15 matches, meaning he averaged 1.16 goal involvements per game last season and is currently averaging 1.33 this year.

In contrast, the former Chelsea ace scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 51 appearances last year and currently has seven goals and one assist to his name in 14 matches this season, equating to an average of 0.41 goal involvements per game in 23/24 and 0.57 per match this season.

Now, there is the caveat that until the new year, the former Bayer Leverkusen star was playing in midfield for the Gunners, but even when we take a look at just his numbers when playing up top – 13 goals and eight assists in 28 appearances – they pale in comparison to the Swede.

Ultimately, there are, of course, other things Havertz brings to the table at the Emirates, like his ability to hold up the ball and press from the front, but when it comes to the most important metric of all, scoring goals, he’s a distant second to Gyokeres.

Therefore, even though it will almost certainly impact the German’s game time next season, Arsenal should go all out to sign the Sporting star next summer before one of their rivals get there first.

The two most likely players to depart Enzo Maresca’s side, as per reports in the last few weeks, are left-back Ben Chilwell and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka – who have both been deemed surplus to requirements by the Italian.

Chilwell and Chukwuemeka have both played under an hour in total across all competitions, with Chelsea ready to cut their losses on the pair as January looms.

Chelsea are encouraging teams to move for Chilwell, who is attracting interest from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, while reliable journalist Simon Phillips reported this week that Ipswich Town have made an enquiry over signing Chukwuemeka in January.

“Ipswich Town are showing a keen interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka,” wrote Phillips.

“In fact, we have heard that they have already made an enquiry about the player’s availability for January. Chukwuemeka wants to play football, so he will listen to any approaches now. He had approaches in the summer but ideally wanted to stay in England, and again, ideally in London.

“AC Milan and Barcelona have also both expressed an interest in the Blues midfielder. Chelsea will sell him for the right price, and they might even consider a loan to buy deal in January that will see the player leave in the summer.

“Sources are unsure at this point the nature of the enquiry from Ipswich, whether it is a loan or a permanent approach, because it is just an initial enquiry to see if the player is available in January, which he will be. But I’d suspect it would be some sort of loan to buy deal for now. Chelsea will listen.”

Other players linked with the exit door including Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman is attracting rumoured interest from Man United, and it is believed Nkunku is tempted by the possibility of making an Old Trafford move (Football Insider).

Palace approach Chelsea over signing Mykhailo Mudryk

Despite his use in cup competitions and some impressive showings as of late, reports continue to link Mykhailo Mudryk with a January exit as well.

The Ukranian, signed for an initial £62 million, has failed to justify that price tag so far and faces stiff competition for a consistent place in Chelsea’s attacking line-up.

The return of Ben Stokes to the England set-up is good news on many levels, but one person perhaps happier than most will be left-arm spinner Jack Leach.Leach, who famously combined with Stokes at the dramatic conclusion of the Headingley Test in 2019, did not play a Test in the last English season (he has not played at home since the 2019 Ashes) largely because of the difficulty in balancing the side in Stokes’ absence.England tried to find a solution by recalling Moeen Ali after the first Test against India but that still left Leach on the outer. Segundo as informações divulgadas, o crime teria acontecido após Robson, a vítima, uma amiga da vítima e um amigo do jogador terem aproveitado uma festa em uma casa noturna no bairro do Tatuapé, Zona Leste de São Paulo.

A mulher que acusa o atleta corintiano afirma que houve ingestão de bebidas alcoólicas por todos, que posteriormente se dirigiram a um hotel na mesma região e que houve relação consensual entre a denunciante e o amigo de Bambu e que o zagueiro foi para outro quarto com a amiga da vítima. No entanto, a autora da denúncia relata que dormiu e quando acordou viu o jogador nu, sobre ela e introduzindo o dedo em seu órgão genital. De acordo com o relato em processo, o colega do jogador estava no quarto e observou todo o ato.

A amiga da vítima prestou depoimento à Polícia Civil de São Paulo, confirmou que manteve relações sexuais com Robson Bambu de forma consensual, mas que após acordar ouviu batidas na porta vindo da mulher que acusa o atleta corintiano, que relatou o crime sexual sofrido. Após isso ambas deixaram o local do suposto crime via carro de aplicativo.

De acordo com a acusação, o zagueiro negou em todos os momentos que tenha violentado a denunciante.

Oficialmente, nem Robson Bambu, nem o Corinthians se manifestarão enquanto o caso não for apurado. O Timão, por sua vez, deixa claro que não compactua com quaisquer tipos de violência.

Contratado por empréstimo neste início de ano, vindo do Nice, da França, Robson Bambu chegou ao clube corintiano para retomar o bom futebol, após perder boa parte da última temporada por conta de uma lesão no tornozelo. While Tottenham chiefs are showing faith in Postecoglou, amid some doubts among the fan base over whether he is the right man for the helm, it is imperative that the Australian inspires a winning run right after the international break.

This last fortnight has seen the north Londoners beat both Man City and Aston Villa in statement displays, but they followed those excellent results up with humbling defeats against Galatasaray in the Europa League and struggling Ipswich Town – who secured their first win of the season against Postecoglou’s side.

Crystal Palace also scraped their only victory of the Premier League campaign so far at the expense of Tottenham, and this trend needs to seriously change if Postecoglou is to challenge for major silverware this season.

“What I’ve been told is, is that he’s so desperate not to be seen as sort of an Australian caricature,” commentator Sam Matterface told talkSPORT (via The Boot Room).

“He doesn’t want to be Jesse Marsch 2, he doesn’t want people to throw the sort of Australian Ted Lasso thing at him.

“So he tries to sort of not be the playful, happy character and tries to be serious, that’s what I’ve been told. It doesn’t come across very well. And Mark Scott of Match of the Day has had two rather difficult exchanges with him in a couple of weeks. I know Crook and I have both had interesting exchanges with him as well over the last year.”

If their form continues in this manner, there is every reason to believe players could start to ponder jumping ship.

However, one player who may be looking for a way out as soon as possible is left-back Sergio Reguilon. The left-back, on a reported £120,000-per-week (MEN), is out of Postecoglou’s plans and has been unable to contribute on the field.

Fenerbache open talks with Reguilon after José Mourinho demand

According to Turkish news outlet Sabah, former Spurs boss José Mourinho, who signed the Spaniard during his tenure at N17, has asked Fenerbache chiefs to sign a new left-back for his system.

In response, Fenerbahce have made contact with Reguilon personally, as they make their way through a list of targets for the role.

There are other reports which claim Reguilon could terminate his Spurs contract and leave months before it is set to expire in the summer, and if this were to happen, then the Turkish side could have a free deal on the cards. In any case, the 27-year-old’s future appears far away from N17.
