Wicketkeeper-batter Regis Chakabva has been named Zimbabwe captain for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh with regular captain Craig Ervineruled out with hamstring and knee injuries. Allrounder Sean Williams will also miss the series, with Zimbabwe Cricket saying he had been granted leave to “attend to some personal matters”. Blessing Muzarabani, who missed the T20I series against Bangladesh with an injury, continues to remain unavailable.Zimbabwe have also brought in fast bowler Brad Evans in place of the injured Tendai Chatara. Evans is yet to play an ODI, but was influential in Zimbabwe’s win in the third T20I, taking two wickets to hamper Bangladesh’s chase.Left-arm pacer Richard Ngarava returns to the ODI side, while quick Victor Nyauchi and left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza are also included. Masakadza was the third highest wicket-taker in last season’s Logan Cup (Zimbabwe’s domestic 50-over tournament) with 35 wickets in seven games while Nyauchi finished fourth on the list with 32 wickets in seven matches.Allrounder Tarisai Musakanda and batters Tadiwanashe Marumani and Tony Munyonga have also been added to the squad. Musakanda, who has played 15 ODIs so far, last played for Zimbabwe in the format in 2021. They have won seven of their last eight T20Is, including an unbeaten qualification campaign that has earned them a spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. They followed that by beating Bangladesh in last week’s T20I series 2-1 – the first time Zimbabwe have won a T20I series against Bangladesh.Chakabva said the ODIs would be a different prospect. “Bangladesh are a strong side. We have been playing some good cricket. We look forward to a good challenge with these guys. We expect to keep playing that way. The results will follow from that.”Obviously, ODIs are a different challenge. You have to play well for longer. It won’t be a T20 in a one-day game. Sheffield United look to be the main big spenders in the Championship this January transfer window, with a deal edging ever closer for in-demand attacker Tom Cannon to join for around £10m.

On top of that, one confirmed transfer is already through the door in Ben Brereton Diaz, who links back up with the Blades after a fruitful loan switch during the 2023/24 season which raised a rare smile on the faces of United fans even as a depressing relegation was confirmed.

Chris Wilder will hope the Chile international goes on to be as successful as James McAtee was over two loan stints in South Yorkshire, before the exciting midfielder then found it immensely hard to make the grade back at Manchester City.

The tricky 22-year-old would succeed here too, much like Brereton Diaz managed despite all the on-field difficulties, with a further six goal contributions coming his way in the league before heading back to the Etihad pleased with his time in South Yorkshire.

There must have been some temptation on the end of the Blades to get even more of the old band back together when it was widely reported this month that the Salford-born midfielder was growing restless with his game-time under Pep Guardiola, with Championship rivals Leeds United allegedly sniffing around.

But, no such reunion has occurred. Yet, that doesn’t mean Wilder wouldn’t welcome back another familiar midfielder instead…

Much like McAtee, Wolverhampton Wanderers man Tommy Doyle must also be getting slightly agitated with his lack of consistent minutes at Molineux, with only three starts coming his way this season in the Premier League.

Off the back of that, the promotion chasers could be willing to test the waters with the Old Gold over securing a deal for Doyle to return to United, with the Sheffield Star reporting earlier this month that a move would be considered owing to the team’s light numbers centrally.

Like his former teammate in the middle, however, Doyle did more than enough during his first stint at the club to suggest he could stroll straight into Wilder’s starting XI, as seen with a thunderbolt effort finding the back of the net to send the Blades to an unbelievable FA Cup semi-final.

In truth, as much as McAtee would often steal the limelight as the standout loanee coming from a top-flight giant, Doyle was equally as key for Paul Heckingbottom’s men in promotion being tasted, despite not being front and centre of every single of the now Preston North End manager’s lineups.

Doyle more than delivered in crunch times at Bramall Lane with seven goal contributions managed from just 21 league starts, with Wilder wanting to bring in the 23-year-old for some added depth to help out the likes of Sydie Peck with Ollie Arblaster sidelined for the foreseeable.

Noted as being a “brilliant” talent in the past by Wolves journalist Lewis Keen when starring in spurts, United could really show they mean business in the promotion race by winning a loan star that has been successful in reaching the Premier League just two years ago.

Whilst Leeds United continue to be quiet in the window, their Yorkshire foes continue to flex their muscles, as the race for promotion heats up once more.

Over the years, Arsenal football club has been the home to countless iconic number nines, many of which have catapulted the club to endless levels of success.

Thierry Henry will forever be one of if not the most iconic Gunners attackers, capturing the hearts of the fanbase and cementing himself in Premier League history – seen by many as the best to ever grace the division.

Arsenal submit huge bid for European star

According to one Spanish outlet, Arsenal have submitted an offer in the region of €70m (£59m) to RB Leipzig for the services of striker Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian international has been on their shortlist in recent weeks, but now it appears as though the Gunners have taken a huge leap in their pursuit of a new leading marksman.

The report claims that the Bundesliga side want to keep hold of their star man until the summer at least, but that they would part ways with the 21-year-old if a significant offer is received.

Sesko has already notched 14 goals in all competitions throughout the opening months of the 2024/25 campaign, evidently having the goalscoring nouse Arteta has been craving.

It would be yet another huge investment from the hierarchy to try and steer the club ever closer to ending their drought for a league title, with the youngster potentially following in the footsteps of another attacker at the Emirates.

Why Sesko could be Arsenal’s best striker since Aubameyang

Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have departed the club in contentious circumstances, eventually joining rivals Chelsea, but no one can take away from his time as a player in North London.

The Gabon international joined the Gunners back in January 2018 from German side Borussia Dortmund, costing a huge £56m – a then club record fee, but one that was worth every penny.

The now 35-year-old registered 92 goals in 163 appearances during his four-year spell at the club, producing countless memorable moments that will live long in the memory of all supporters.

He scored eight times against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur – the third most against any side in his professional career – often handing the fanbase bragging rights over the noisy neighbours.

However, fast-forward three years from his controversial departure, the club could repeat their transfer masterclass with Sesko, following in Aubameyang’s footsteps of joining the Gunners from a Bundesliga outfit in a winter window for a similar sort of price tag.

When looking at the 21-year-old’s stats from the current season, he’s massively outperformed the two senior options currently at Arteta’s disposal, highlighting what a super addition he would be for the club.

Sesko, who’s previously been dubbed “world-class” by analyst Ben Mattinson, has outscored both Jesus throughout 2024/25, whilst also notching a higher shot-on-target accuracy rate than the pair.

He’s also managed to complete more of his attempted take-ons whilst also winning more aerial battles – offering that all-round focal point in which the club have missed hugely.

Whilst it may be another significant investment into the playing squad, it’s one that would improve the current options at the Emirates whilst also investing in the future, handing him the platform to improve further.

If he is to replicate Aubameyang and follow in his footsteps in being a success in North London, it would be a phenomenal signing, one that would be worth every penny, allowing Arteta to have a new talisman – one that could prove the difference in their title ambitions.

Ben Foakes admits fitting into this new England men’s Test side can be a struggle but hopes Test century number two is a sign he is going about it the right way.Foakes finished unbeaten on 113 on day two against South Africa at Old Trafford, as the hosts declared on 415 for 9 to establish a first-innings lead of 264. While it was by no means the kind of aggressive innings we have become used to under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, the Surrey wicketkeeper reaching three figures from 206 deliveries, it was a vital contribution when England needed it most.It was an especially helpful knock alongside Stokes, who scored 103, as the pair put on 173 for the sixth wicket. Having come in on 147 for 5, still trailing the Proteas by four, the absorption of pressure and the subsequent accumulation of runs, which sped up when Foakes was batting with the tail, was a nod to a lot of introspection and hard work paying dividends for the 29-year-old.His first century came in his first innings in this format, back in November 2018 in Sri Lanka. Since then, he has established himself as a reliable No. 5 for Surrey: seven of his now 13 first-class hundreds have come for the county – he began his career at Essex, for whom he has three – at an average of 43. While he struggled at first to truly get to grips with batting lower for England, and adopting an altogether different mindset, this was a sizeable step in the right direction.”It’s a different role, at Surrey I just bat five and just play,” Foakes said. “When you get on quite challenging wickets batting at seven, obviously there’s a good chance you lose wickets quickly and you have to play a different way. An average of 26.91 coming into this match has already improved to 31.82 thanks to the red ink.”I just felt awful in that game [Headingley],” he said. “Getting the opportunity of being number one and then pretty soon after getting something like that is very frustrating, I’ve had a bit of stuff going on since I first played but I’m used to little setbacks like that”To be honest, in my first 10 games I was kind of looking and thinking ‘jeez how hard is Test cricket’. The West Indies tour [in 2019], the wickets out there – and then I came in for those three in India [last year] and it was obviously crazy to bat on and I guess this is a different role as well.”I think it’s just that I’ve been a little bit out of touch,” he said of his performance at Lord’s last week. “I haven’t been lining it up as well as I’d like in the last couple of Championship games and then in the first one at Lord’s. So for me it was just working out how to do that better. That’s what I worked on between these two games. And I felt like I did line it up better and play better.”Because it’s not my natural game, it’s just trying to work out how to play best. And I think sometimes I haven’t got the balance right because I’m not an explosive batter. If I’m trying to get the score up I can start pushing at the ball and things like that and playing at balls I shouldn’t be. It’s been really clear, obviously practising in a different way for that role, but also being really clear when I am just going to bat or when I have to push the button… how I’m going to do it. Northern Superchargers 164 for 3 (Wolvaardt 90*) beat Manchester Originals 160 for 3 (Dottin 68*, Lee 40) by seven wicketsDeandra Dottin produced some of the finest hitting seen in either edition of the Women’s Hundred but her efforts were trumped by Laura Wolvaardt, whose perfectly judged 90 not out took the Northern Superchargers to a seven-wicket victory with one ball to spare at Clean Slate Headingley.Wolvaardt batted through the Superchargers’ innings and faced 49 balls, hitting 13 fours and two sixes as the Leeds-based side overhauled the visitors’ 160 for three to secure a victory that keeps their chances of making the knockout stages of the competition very much alive. By contrast, the Originals’ hopes of making further progress hang by the slimmest of threads.But such an outcome seemed unlikely when Dottin, who was playing her last game in this year’s Hundred before going back to captain Trinbago Knight Riders in the inaugural women’s Caribbean Premier League, hit five fours and six sixes, including three in a row off Linsey Smith, in her 30-ball 68 not out and shared in the 74-run partnership with Sophie Ecclestone that enabled the Originals to post a formidable score.And the Originals’ innings had begun in sprightly fashion when Lizelle Lee took at least one boundary of each of the first five sets and made 40 of the 57 runs she put on with Emma Lamb when she top-edged an attempted drive off Katie Levick and was caught by the wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy.Lamb soon followed for 14, although it took a brilliant catch running in from long-on by Alice Davidson-Richards off Heather Graham to remove her and that dismissal was in sharp contrast to the departure of Ami Campbell, who was run out for 7 when she was dozily strolling back into her crease and was beaten by Hollie Armitage’s sharp throw and Healy’s quick thinking.The score was 86 off 38 balls when Campbell had to stroll back to the dugout but that was only a prelude to the astonishing hitting of Dottin. At the other end Ecclestone was not quite outshone – she whacked three successive fours off Jenny Gunn – but her unbeaten 24 was overshadowed by her partner’s remarkably clean hitting.Undaunted by their stiff target, the Superchargers began very positively with Healy hitting six fours in an 18-ball 25 before she was caught at mid-off by Lea Tahuhu off Kate Cross. Lamb’s excellent throw then ran out Bess Heath for three but Superchargers’ skipper, Armitage regained the initiative with a 20-ball 24 before being bowled by Lamb.Meanwhile Wolvaardt was coolness personified even when 75 runs were needed off 40 balls and 55 off 25. In company with Graham, she put on an unbroken 55 in 24 balls and the winning runs were scored off Dottin, whose day was spoiled when her last over contained a front-foot no-ball and thereby a free hit.

O setor mais forte dos comandados de Gustavo Morínigo é o ofensivo, com um trio de ataque que tem dado conta do recado e agradado a torcida (Igor Paixão, Alef Manga e Léo Gamalho). De acordo com dados do portal “Footstats”, o Coritiba é a equipe com mais finalizações certas na competição (45, no total, empatado com o Atlético-MG).
