A performance of all-round quality to match their huge win at the Wanderers ensured South Africa ended their season on a high with a 131-run win in Centurion in their final international before the World Cup. Rilee Rossouw’s 83-ball hundred provided him the highest peak of an undulating start at ODI level and he joined forces with the peerless Hashim Amla, who played with rare abandon during his occasionally brutal 133, as the pair added a record 247 for the third wicket.South Africa piled up a gargantuan 361 for 5 and the carnage in the second half of the innings brought back memories of the Wanderers as West Indies’ bowlers were flayed, powerless to stop the onslaught. Jason Holder and West Indies have been fined by the ICC for maintaining a slow over-rate in the fifth ODI against South Africa in Centurion on Wednesday. Holder has been fined 40% of his match fees, while his players have been docked 20% after West Indies were ruled to be two overs short when time allowances were taken into consideration.
The ICC Code of Conduct stipulates that in minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10% of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

Still, Parnell is likely to start the World Cup as a reserve. It will be fascinating to see if the same is true of Rossouw after a series including two hundreds. Three sixes came in seven balls against Sheldon Cottrell and Darren Sammy; all of a sudden it looked as though he may beat Rossouw to three figures.In the end he was the second man there, from 92 balls, and what followed was a destructive display of batsmanship that is not readily associated with someone like Amla whose trademark is steady accumulation. After another crushing defeat, though, it was really West Indies who needed the consoling.

Aqueles dias com elenco completo à disposição acabaram no São Paulo, já que Alexandre Pato voltou a ser baixa para o técnico Cuca. The umpires seemed to tell Williams to wait as they checked whether Mooney’s foot had stayed in play. But before the replay process was complete, Williams had walked. Nobody seemed to know what was going on.The odd scenario that played out was that replays kept being shown even as the new batsman Tinashe Panyangara took guard. It looked as if Mooney’s foot had touched the boundary, but with Williams already off the field, play went on. Had the umpires called it a six, Williams would have had a hundred, and Zimbabwe would have been favourites to win.Instead of 26 off 19 balls with Williams still there, Zimbabwe now needed 32 off 19 with only three wickets in hand. Had Zimbabwe triumphed, they would still have needed to beat India in their final group match to have any chance of progressing to the quarter-finals. Instead, Ireland won by five runs. That, in the end, was the only certainty.It was a devastating way for Zimbabwe’s World Cup hopes to end, after Williams and the stand-in captain Brendan Taylor compiled a brilliantly measured 149-run stand that rescued them from a wobbly start chasing 332. Our calculations weren’t good,” Taylor said. “We weren’t making smart decisions as batters. We’re going to be asking ourselves these questions for a long time and wondering why we didn’t get over the line. We were sloppy in many ways, in our bowling, our fielding and shot selection.”Perhaps Zimbabwe’s most costly errors came in the field. وعلم بطولات، أن فيتور بيريرا قرر الدفع بالحكام الدوليين في مباريات دوري الشباب “مواليد 2005” للحفاظ على لياقتهم البدنية والذهنية.

ويعاني الحكام الدوليين من أزمة كبيرة وهي عدم إدارتهم لمباريات كثيرة في المسابقة المحلية بسبب سياسة التصنيف التي يتبعها بيريرا، وهو ما أثر عليهم في المباريات الدولية التي يقودها، سواء حكام الساحة أو المساعدين.

– Postura agressiva no mercado:

Ao ganhar o segundo título brasileiro em três anos, a diretoria decidiu com a comissão técnica manter o grupo e valorizá-lo em casos pontuais. Jogadores como Bruno Henrique e Dudu, por exemplo, renovaram e receberam aumentos depois de sondagens do exterior. Além disso, foram quase R$ 80 milhões em atletas como Vitor Hugo, Matheus Fernandes, Zé Rafael e Carlos Eduardo.

Houve, portanto, uma canalização maior das receitas no departamento de futebol, que tinha na Libertadores o principal sonho da temporada. Até o momento, o clube não conquistou nenhum título, mas ainda briga pelo bi no Brasileiro. Mesmo que o principal alvo não tenha sido atingido, a avaliação é de que o elenco é um ativo que pode também render em possíveis negociações nas janelas futuras.

– A gente investiu muito neste ano, realmente até além do que tínhamos planejado. Se você notar, mantivemos praticamente todos os jogadores do ano passado e trouxemos outros grandes jogadores. O investimento foi alto. Investimos para ter resultados. Naquele momento (da saída de Felipão) não tínhamos os resultados, por isso fizemos a mudança e agora eles voltaram. – Déficit no balancete, mas caixa em dia:

Até o mês de agosto, o Palmeiras apresenta um déficit de R$ 33 milhões. A) R$ 10 milhões em ações trabalhistas e cíveis, concluídas ou acordadas: O maior caso é o de Lincoln, meia que passou pelo clube entre 2010 e 2011. O Palmeiras terá de pagar R$ 9 milhões a ele, mas de forma parcelada nos próximos anos. O valor entra inteiro no balanço de 2019, pois a dívida foi reconhecida neste ano. Moisés, por exemplo, foi vendido por R$ 21 milhões, mas o dinheiro está bloqueado por conta da ação de Antenor Angeloni, quem viabilizou a chegada de Wesley, em 2012;

B) R$ 3 milhões em variação cambial: Negociações parceladas feitas em moedas estrangeiras acabam tendo uma diferença por conta do aumento do valor de dólar e euro, por exemplo. Este flutuação criou também mais R$ 2 milhões em movimentações financeiras, como pagamento de IOF;

C) R$ 3 milhões com leis de incentivo ao esporte: O clube usou a lei pela primeira vez, em busca de investimentos em esportes amadores e futebol feminino. A expectativa era de arrecadar algo em torno de R$ 5 milhões, mas o valor ficou pouco acima de R$ 1 milhão;

D) R$ 9 milhões em receitas não aferidas: A principal foram os direitos de transmissão internacional do Campeonato Brasileiro, que a CBF não conseguiu vender até o momento, e dificilmente o fará nesta edição. Além disso, o Palmeiras não entrou no acordo coletivo com a SportPromotion, que faz a comercialização de placas no Brasileiro. Assim como Corinthians e Flamengo, que negociaram sozinhos com a empresa, o Verdão já tem um acordo individual para explorar a mídia estática do Allianz Parque de 2020 a 2022. Esta receita, porém, só entrará a partir do ano que vem.

E) R$ 6 milhões em bilheteria: O Palmeiras arrecadou menos com ingressos até o momento na temporada. A previsão orçamentária tomou como base os números de 2018, e houve uma diferença razoável entre um ano e outro:

– Paulista de 2018: R$ 17.974.386,74 de renda bruta, contra os R$ 12.332.950,20 do Estadual de 2019;
– 1ª fase da Libertadores de 2018: R$ 8.951.123,74 de renda bruta, contra os R$ 5.323.951,90 da fase de grupos deste ano. Nesta edição, o principal jogo ainda ocorreu no Pacaembu: a eliminação para o Grêmio, nas quartas de final. Ainda que a renda tenha sido de R$ 1,8 milhão, o valor seria maior no Allianz Parque.

– Receita alta e superávit?

O Palmeiras entende que a possibilidade de repetir os últimos anos e encerrar o ano com superávit dependerá também do desempenho esportivo. Quanto melhor for a fase do time, a mobilização da torcida cresce, a bilheteria aumenta e é maior a chance de se receber prêmios em caso de um possível título – no momento, o Verdão está a três pontos do Flamengo, segundo colocado.

Mesmo que o ano não acabe com o balanço no azul, a diretoria alviverde argumenta que o clube é bem administrado e toma decisões planejadas, com estratégia. Ou seja, defende que não deixará o caixa prejudicado.

O Verdão conta com o principal patrocínio do futebol brasileiro e recebe cerca de R$ 100 milhões por ano da Crefisa/FAM. A empresa também viabilizou contratações, e deverá receber a quantia de volta, hoje tratada como empréstimo. O valor, com juros, está avaliado em cerca de R$ 160 milhões.

Richie Benaud, the former Australia captain, journalist and legendary broadcaster, has died in Sydney aged 84. He had fought a long battle with skin cancer and had also suffered from the after-effects of a serious car accident near his Coogee home in late 2013.A legspinner and aggressive batsman, Benaud’s 248 wickets made him Australia’s leading Test bowler of all time when he retired in 1964, having also never lost a series in which he was captain.His captaincy achievements included the return of the Ashes to Australia after a gap of seven years in 1958-59, a key role in the epic 1960-61 home series against the West Indies that featured the first tied Test in Brisbane, and the conjuring of a miraculous victory over England at Manchester in 1961.Melding flair and pragmatism in a way that would be emulated by successors including Ian Chappell, Mark Taylor and the incumbent captain Michael Clarke, Benaud helped breathe life back into Test cricket after a relatively moribund period for the game in the 1950s.But Benaud would have arguably as much impact on the game as a broadcaster in England and Australia, a trade he moved into having worked as a police reporter before his playing retirement. His spare, dry style and ability to add to the images on screen rather than talking over the top of them was distinctive.He also played a key role in the establishment of World Series Cricket as a key organiser of the breakaway competition for Kerry Packer and then the host of Channel Nine’s coverage in 1977. It was a role Benaud would hold for most of the next 48 years, while living an “endless summer” with his second wife Daphne that took in work for the BBC and then Channel Four in England during Australian winters.Taking strong note of his journalistic training, Benaud was seldom given to expressing fervent opinion nor to hark back to his playing days. A generation of Australian children grew up knowing him only as a television host and commentator, and he was often asked if he had ever been a player.A preference for cool detachment and observation meant that on the odd occasion he did raise his voice in critique it was extremely resonant – his closing broadcast remarks following Greg Chappell’s ordering of the under arm in a World Series final against New Zealand at the MCG in 1981 provided one such example.Wally Edwards, the Cricket Australia chairman, spoke of Benaud’s impact on the game. “Our country has lost a national treasure,” he said. “After Don Bradman, there has been no Australian player more famous or more influential than Richie Benaud.”Richie stood at the top of the game throughout his rich life, first as a record-breaking leg-spinner and captain, and then as cricket’s most famous broadcaster who became the iconic voice of our summer. He was an important influence in the formation of Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket in 1977, a climactic event at the time but one which has left a lasting, positive influence on the game.”Away from the camera he was a leader, mentor and positive influencer of an extraordinary number of cricketers. And despite his role as the treasured grandfather of the game, he remained deeply in touch with modern developments, embracing Twenty20 when others of older eras shunned it.”His passing today marks a profound loss to our nation. Australian cricket and the game’s legions of fans extend deepest sympathies to Richie’s wife Daphne, brother John and the entire Benaud family at this sad time.”Memorably, Benaud concluded his days as a commentator in England towards the end of the final day of the epic 2005 Ashes series, which also happened to be the last time Test cricket was broadcast on free to air television in Britain. He signed off to applause from around The Oval as England closed in on the Ashes.In Australia his hosting and commentary duties were gradually scaled back with advancing years, though Nine made every effort to keep him involved as much as possible. Only days before his November 2013 car accident he was glimpsed filming a promotional spot at North Sydney Oval, and after recovering enough to re-appear publicly he was a welcome presence at Nine’s season launch at the outset of last summer.That day, Benaud spoke of the difficult times he had encountered, while offering a poignant word of advice about the effects of skin cancer, which emerged following his years of playing the game under the Australian sun, typically with shirt open to the waist and hat seldom worn.”When I was a kid, we never, ever wore a cap. Not the flash ones,” he said at the launch. “‘Nugget’ Miller never wore a cap, so I didn’t. I wish I had. I recommend to anyone: they should have protection on their skin and on their heads. I can give you one good reason for that. Eighty-four-year-olds just don’t seem to mend as well as they used to.”A few weeks later, Benaud’s voice would be given most emotively to the narration of Nine’s tribute to Phillip Hughes. The fragility of his words suggested that Benaud himself did not have too much time left. He never did get the chance to say goodbye to the Australian television audience, leaving a gulf that Nine’s chief executive David Gyngell described.”Richie Benaud’s passing has robbed us not only of a national treasure, but a lovely man,” he said. “Richie earned the profound and lasting respect of everyone across the world of cricket and beyond – first as an outstanding player and captain, then as an incomparable commentator, and through it all as a wonderful human being.”Richie is a true legend not only to all the people who knew him, but to the many millions who didn’t. Which speaks volumes. He’s been part of the Australian psyche.”We shall miss him dearly, but we’ll forever treasure his indelible memory and all the marvellous values for which he stood. Cricket is very much the richer for Richie Benaud’s lifelong engagement. And so are we all. Our deepest sympathies go to Daphne and Richie’s family.”
