West Ham fans react to stunning Masuaku skill

You have probably seen it, but it is always worth having another look at pieces of skill such as Arthur Masuaku’s against Tottenham Hotspur last week.

The 24-year-old divides opinion with the West Ham United supporters, but the fanbase have come together to admire the skill that the defender demonstrated against Tottenham.

Masuaku has previous when it comes to producing moments of magic, with his ability on the ball only just being recognised by a wider audience.

Tottenham duo Serge Aurier and Son Heung-min could be forgiven for thinking that they had Masuaku in the corner during the 1-1 draw at Wembley last week.

The former France Under-19 international had other ideas, however, as he produced a staggering piece of skill to escape from a tight situation.

West Ham’s Twitter account again posted the video at the start of this week, and the club’s fans were on hand to reveal their delight. It was some feet from the full-back.

Man United fans urge club to sell Matteo Darmian after Yeovil display

Manchester United advanced through to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a comprehensive 4-0 win against League Two side Yeovil Town at Huish Park on Friday night, but Red Devils fans weren’t impressed with Matteo Darmian’s display and have urged the club to sell the defender.

The Italy international has been a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho this season, and his start at right-back against the Glovers was his first appearance since the EFL Cup defeat to Bristol City on December 20, and just his 12th of the entire campaign in all competitions.

While he was part of a defence that kept a clean sheet, the 28-year-old failed to really make a huge impact on the match – although he was given the assist for Jesse Lingard’s goal even though the England international had to do most of the work following the pass from the right-back.

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on his performance via social media, and while one said ‘please sell Darmian as he is the worst full back I have ever seen in a United shirt’, another said “sell Darmian to Arsenal for £16m”.

HYS: Should Ampadu or David Luiz start vs Newcastle?

After fielding something close to his strongest side against Arsenal in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night, it’s likely Antonio Conte will make changes when Chelsea host Newcastle United in the FA Cup this weekend.

The Magpies are a decent side but this competition isn’t their priority, while plenty of those on the fringes of Chelsea’s first-team squad will be desperate for a game and some of the starting XI are in need of a rest too.

The defence seems the likeliest department to be shaken up and we could well see Andreas Christensen given a break, opening up the sweeper slot in Chelsea’s back three. There are two obvious candidates to fill it; veteran defender David Luiz, who Transfermarkt value at £22.5million, and exciting academy product Ethan Ampadu.

So Chelsea fans, which defender would you start in the central defensive role when Newcastle come to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, or would you prefer to see both included in the Blues’ starting XI? Let us know by voting below…

Man United fans react as they are linked with Harry Maguire move

According to reports in The Mirror, Manchester United are ready to battle arch-rivals Manchester City for the signing of £50m-rated Leicester City defender Harry Maguire this summer, and Red Devils fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

The Mirror says that Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his central defensive options at the end of the season even though he has the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo in his ranks, and he has been impressed with the 24-year-old’s performances for the Foxes following his summer move from Hull City.

It seems as though the England international won’t be available on the cheap though, with the report adding that he is valued at £50m.

Man United supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the Maguire link, and while one said “not what we need”, another said “just do a swap deal with Jones”.

Aston Villa fans want Tuanzebe to start Preston clash

Aston Villa will attempt to return to winning ways in the Championship when they welcome Preston North End to Villa Park on Tuesday night.

Steve Bruce’s side will enter the match off the back of a 2-0 defeat at Fulham on Saturday afternoon, which brought to an end a fine run of form.

Villa are still third in the Championship table, but they will face a tough test against a Preston side that are also pushing for a spot in the playoffs this season.

On-loan Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe made his first start for Villa against Fulham, and the 20-year-old impressed despite ending up on the losing side.

Villa’s official Twitter account asked on Monday whether Tuanzebe should be in the XI for the clash with Preston, and the club’s supporters were certainly in favour of that occurring.

Liverpool fans don’t want Mignolet to start ahead of Karius against Porto

Liverpool lead FC Porto 5-0 going into the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie at Anfield on Tuesday night, and Reds fans are all making the same surprise claim about goalkeepers Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

The former has established himself as the Merseyside outfit’s first-choice stopper between the sticks in recent months, and he kept a clean sheet as his team beat Newcastle United 2-0 at home in the Premier League on Saturday.

With their progression to the quarter-finals of the Champions League looking to be all but guaranteed, manager Jurgen Klopp will be tempted to give some of his fringe players – of which Mignolet is now one – starts, but the Anfield faithful certainly aren’t keen on the Belgian replacing Karius on his 30th birthday, even with the great position the club finds themselves in ahead of the match.

Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on the situation via social media, and while one said “I hope Karius continues in goal”, another said they would “be livid if Mignolet starts tonight”.

Tottenham fans lavish praise on in-form Son

Heung-Min Son is enjoying an impressive campaign for Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, the 25-year-old has managed 15 goals and nine assists in 41 appearances in all competitions for his Premier League club.

Son hit a brace in Tottenham’s victory over Huddersfield Town at Wembley on Saturday afternoon to take his tally of Premier League goals to 28 since moving to England.

The attacker has also netted three times in the Champions League this season, and will hope to be in the side that takes on Juventus in the second leg of their last-16 tie on Wednesday night.

On Monday, Tottenham’s official Twitter account posted a GIF of one of Son’s goals against Huddersfield at the weekend.

As expected, the message brought a host of responses from the club’s supporters, who were keen to pay tribute to a player that continues to go from strength to strength.

Relentless Heung-min Son dazzling once again despite Tottenham defeat to Juventus

There is something so relentless about Heung-min Son that a defining impact from his role on the left-hand side of Tottenham’s attack, particularly at Wembley, now seems inevitable in practically every match.

Tireless, tenacious, ruthlessly quick and the kind of forward who makes his own chances as much as he feeds off team-mates, he’s perhaps the only Tottenham player to truly benefit from the temporary change in stadium – the expanse feel of the Wembley pitch giving him those extra few yards to explode into.

14 of his 17 goals this season have come at home, including a strike against Juventus on Wednesday night as Tottenham unfortunately crashed out of the Champions League to the Serie A title-holders, an erroneous few minutes in the second half costing them dearly as Gonzalo Higuain and Paolo Dybala turned the tie in its head midway through the second half.

Before all that though, Tottenham were hitting their groove – the constant mobility and guile of their front four proving too much for Juventus’ monolithic defence to handle as they exploited the space between the backline and the midfield.

And it was Son who shone brightest for the hosts; he took seven chances at goal, completed two dribbles, made two chances and tellingly of his industriousness, also won two tackles. The South Korean earned his just rewards as well; as Kieran Trippier flashed a cross along the six yard box, his scuffed connection looped the ball beyond the grasp of a floored Gianluigi Buffon.

That goal wasn’t enough to see Tottenham through, but the 61-cap attacker was unlucky to end the night on the losing side. Home performances this season have not only made him one of Spurs’ most important players but also one of the most devastating attackers in the Premier League.

Man United fans lavish praise on Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku certainly gets a lot of stick for a player that has scored 25 times in 44 appearances for Manchester United since his arrival last summer.

The 24-year-old had a difficult spell towards the end of 2017, but has largely been brilliant for the Red Devils following his move from Everton.

The striker, who is valued at £76.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, was excellent against his former club Chelsea last month, before impressing against Liverpool in United’s last Premier League fixture on March 10.

Lukaku is currently on 99 Premier League goals, and will have the chance to reach the century in United’s home match against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

The former Chelsea forward also scored twice for Belgium against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday night to continue his remarkable form for his country.

United supporters are absolutely loving Lukaku’s performance levels at this moment in time, and many have taken to social media to pay tribute to the former Anderlecht youngster.

Lingard was the key as United blew Swansea away in the first half

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford had to be content with a place on the bench while Jesse Lingard was fielded alongside Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku against Swansea City on Saturday.

United produced a lively first half performance to secure a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Lukaku – his 100th Premier League strike – and Alexis Sanchez, who really needed the confidence boost.

Combined with Chelsea’s home defeat to Tottenham, it was a good weekend for United who are now 12 points ahead of the reigning champions in the race for the top four; a surely unassailable lead with just seven games remaining.

We’ve taken a closer look at the numbers behind the performance of Lingard, who is valued at just £22.5m by Transfermarkt, and went into this one on the back of two impressive England performances and his first Three Lions goal.

The academy graduate looks so much more lively when United play at a high tempo and he was at the heart of everything good about their first half display.

He can motor forward from the number 10 position with 2 dribbles here, and also contributed one key pass, as well as the deflected assist for Sanchez’s goal.

Three crosses and four shots show Lingard’s ability to produce end-product – this is by far his most productive season in terms of goals – but three tackles also show that he is not afraid of getting back in and doing his work defensively.

He had to do that in the second period here as Swansea came on stronger and he will also have to muck in defensively as he is fielded more like a conventional midfielder as it stands for Gareth Southgate’s England.

In a season where so many of United’s more expensive stars have flattered to deceive, could you make the case that Lingard has been the most consistent forward at the club?
